My NEW Writing Routine
Oh, the wonderful writing routine. We should all have one. Some are better than others. Some get brushed under the rug and forgotten forever.
For me, I like to brush things under the rug and watch Real Housewives instead.
That kind of writing routine doesn’t get my book written. It doesn't fulfill me.
I turn the TV off and I still have that nagging idea clinging to the back of my mind, saying, “write me, write me, WRITE ME!”
Needless to say I haven’t got a lot of writing done lately.
Life has been hectic. My husband had spine surgery kind of hectic.
I have to do everything he did on top of everything I already do until he is healed enough to get back to doing those things. Which may be never, and I’m OK with that. He’s not in a wheelchair, for that I am grateful.
Life has been busy. But that’s an excuse. I will always have time for writing, if I make time.
I realized I needed to make yet another plan and stick to it. I needed to throw out all the rugs so I couldn‘t brush anything under them.
Towards the beginning of the year I chose a word of the year.
LIVE
I want to live the life I’ve always dreamed of. As writers we fantasize. I want all those things to come true. I want to truly LIVE.
I have a design I made that says
Live Your Dreams, Don’t Just Daydream
will this help me live the life i’ve always dreamed of?
This is printed out and on my vision board. I also printed a card to carry with me.
My hope is that this will keep me focused on what I want.
I read this article by Julien McLaren and it really helped me to figure out a plan for journaling and a writing routine that also enriches my life.
